The U.S. deaf women’s national team are champions again after finishing undefeated in the World Deaf Football Championships in Eboli, Italy. The U.S., which also won the cup in 2012, beat Russia 3-0 in Saturday’s title match.
The Americans cruised through the preliminary round behind, outscoring their opponents 22-2 in five games, led by Emily Cressy’s 11 goals. The team is coached by former U.S. women’s national team member and Women’s World Cup champion Amy Griffin and assisted by Joy Fawcett, who won two World Cups with the USWNT and also won gold in the Olympics.
After the match, Women’s Soccer United shared the moment the USDWNT hoisted the cup.
